Woman earning 65,000 refuses to contribute to household expenses; says it’s her hard earned money

A viral social media post by a woman discussing her educational background, her father’s retirement, and family financial dynamics has sparked debate.

The 24-year-old woman from Haryana, earning ₹65,000 a month, says she doesn’t want to contribute to household expenses despite living with her parents.

Her father supported her education, helped her financially throughout her studies and, after retirement, now earns around ₹35,000 a month from rental income.

After she started earning, he asked her to contribute a fixed share towards household expenses.

Her response? She wants to use her salary to travel, explore the world and enjoy life while she’s young, saying she doesn’t want every rupee she earns to become a family responsibility.

It also raises an important question:

If parents are expected to sacrifice for their children, should children have absolutely no responsibility towards their parents once they become financially independent?
