The deceased has been identified as Pushpendra Kumar, a driver for the Deputy Director of the Agriculture Department.
On June 16, he hanged himself in his rented room in Dehradun. Based on a complaint from the deceased’s brother, Ashish Kumar, a case has been registered against Anjina Salam, a resident of Madhya Pradesh, and her lover, Alkesh Kawade.
Pushpendra Kumar, originally from Dhaulri village in the Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh, had been living in Dehradun for the past ten years, earning his living.
Pushpendra was having an affair with Anjina Salam, also known as Anju, a resident of Betul, Madhya Pradesh.
On May 24th, she attended Sujit’s son’s birthday party in Muzaffarnagar, where Pushpendra was also present.
The two subsequently shared the same room in Dehradun for about a week, and on May 28th, Anjina returned to Madhya Pradesh.
It is alleged that after returning, Anjina Salam and her second lover, Alkesh Kavade, repeatedly harassed Pushpendra over the phone and threatened to kill him.
This constant mental pressure drove Pushpendra to take this extreme step.
Based on the family’s written complaint, an FIR was registered at the Basant Vihar police station in Dehradun at 11:39 pm on June 22, 2026.
Police have registered a case of abetment to suicide against the accused, Anjina Salam and Alkesh Kavade.
