According to the police, the victim, Shaktidhar Sahu, had been away from home in the wake of frequent disputes with his wife Gita Mirdha.

He would occasionally return to meet his daughters.

During this period, Gita developed a relationship with Tikinu Kisan

On 23 June, Shaktidhar and Gita had a heated argument in the house while Tikinu was also present. Police said Tikinu tried to intervene, but it turned into a physical altercation.

As the altercation turned violent, Shaktidhar reportedly fell to the ground, following which Gita attacked him with a stick. Police said Shaktidhar died at the spot.

Gita and Tikinu then took the body and dumped it in a nearby field.

The incident came to light only after local residents spotted the body and informed the police.
