Dispur Police, collaborating with local residents, arrested a female human trafficker identified as Shyamantika Das (also referred to locally as Linda Lahor) in Guwahati’s Borbari area.

The woman was apprehended for allegedly running a human trafficking and commercial sex racket by luring vulnerable young women to the city with false promises of lucrative employment.




The accused targeted young women from various parts of Assam via social media platforms like Instagram.
She lured a victim from Jagiroad to Guwahati with an attractive job offer.

Upon arrival, the victim was held captive for 11 days in a rented room in Borbari. She was subjected to physical abuse and forced into commercial sex work.

When the victim resisted and demanded to leave, the suspect locked her inside and demanded an extortion payment of ₹1 lakh for her release.
