The accused, identified as Ruchi, was on a phone call with her lover when her three-year-old son, Madhav, started crying and making noise.

Annoyed by the disruption, she allegedly pressed his neck to silence him, resulting in his death.

After the child became unresponsive, the mother misled her husband, Krishna Murari Gupta (a local pharmacy owner), claiming the child fell ill after crying or had been sleeping unusually long.

The family rushed the child to a private hospital where he was declared dead.
Believing the death was an adverse reaction to polio drops administered earlier that day, the family buried the body without reporting it to the police.




On July 27, 2026, the husband reportedly overheard his wife narrating the entire incident to her lover over a phone call.

The husband’s brother, Govind Gupta, scanned her phone records and discovered frequent, long-duration calls to the same individual.

Upon being confronted by the family, the woman confessed to the crime.
