A woman in Baramati, Maharashtra, allegedly drugged and beat her 41-year-old husband, then tried to bury him alive inside a cement-and-brick chamber built in their home balcony.
The man regained consciousness and alert workers or neighbors intervened, leading to his rescue and the wife’s arrest.
The accused woman allegedly constructed a pit or a grave-like brick structure inside the balcony/terrace area under the guise of home renovation or a planter space.
On the night of July 30–31, 2026, she allegedly administered sedatives to render her husband unconscious and attacked him with a cricket bat or belt.
Believing him dead or incapacitated, she placed him in the pit and called workers to seal it.
Suspicious laborers and locals raised an alarm and notified authorities.
Police arrived at the scene, rescued the victim, and admitted him to a hospital for urgent medical care.
The accused wife is in police custody.
The victim’s husband, Praveen Jagtap, who narrowly escaped this conspiracy, has now made several revelations to the media and demanded a thorough investigation by the police.
Praveen also demanded an investigation, suspecting the use of black magic or witchcraft.
