“My mother wanted to cut my baby brother’s penis. Now I’ll fulfill her dream when I have a son”; Female comedian’s joke sparks outrage

A recent video of stand-up comedian Aishwarya Mohanraj has surfaced online where she shared a dark family anecdote – that her mother allegedly cried upon her brother’s birth, expressing a desire to cut off his penis, only to be stopped by hospital staff.

Aishwarya then declares her intent to “fulfill her mother’s dream” by doing the same to her future son, eliciting laughter from the audience.

The video has ignited online debate, with many condemning it as anti-male and a troubling example of casual jokes about male genital mutilation (MGM) targeting infants.

This controversy highlights double standards of public reaction.

Male comedians have faced FIRs, lost their careers, and received massive backlash for much milder jokes. But when female comedians make dark jokes, they are often dismissed as harmless humor or brushed off as simple expressions of gender disappointment.
