In a recent incident from Baksa district of Assam, a man named Jyotish Das (23) was thrashed brutally by few people for taking a selfie with a female assistant.
Jyotish is a Computer teacher in a private computer training institute from the past 10 months. On May 23, 2020, a few people from the All Bodo Students Union came to Jyotish’s office, seized his phone and took him to their office where he was beaten up.

They questioned Jyotish on why did he take selfie with a girl who belongs to the Bodo community.
Jyotish clarified that they were good friends and shared only friendly texts with each other. He also showed them the messages that he shared with the girl but was beaten more after that.

Later, Jyotish’s mother came to his rescue. It was came to be known that a boy from their community liked the girl but he suspected her of having an affair with Jyotish.
The boy’s family has now lodged an FIR against the culprits.
