A woman threw acid on her husband’s face after a fight over coming home late in Kanpur. The incident took place in the Cooperganj area on Saturday night.

The man named Dabbu Gupta (40) has been admitted to Ursala Hospital. A case has also been registered at the Collector Ganj police station.

In his statement, Dabbu revealed that when he asked his wife, Poonam (35), why she had come home late, she got irked and started fighting. In a fit of rage, she picked up acid from the washroom and threw it at Dabbu.

As per Dabbu, Poonam had returned home around 12:30 a.m. and when he questioned her, she started quarrelling with him. Later, when she physically assaulted him, Gupta too beat her up.
“This, however, enraged Poonam who picked up a bottle of acid kept in the bathroom and splashed it on his face,” said the police.

When police questioned locals, they alleged that Gupta was a liquor addict. “They said that he often quarrels with his wife. It seems that his wife took such an extreme step after being perturbed over his drinking habit,” police added.
