Major relief for late IAF officer Shubham Kumar’s parents, Bihar Sainik Kalyan Board officially hands over ₹1.5 crore to them

The Bihar Sainik Kalyan Board has officially handed over ₹1.5 crore to the parents of the late IAF Flight Lieutenant Shubham Kumar.

He was martyred in an aircraft crash in Jorhat, Assam. This financial assistance comes after a public controversy surrounding the distribution of his death benefits.

Following the officer’s tragic passing, the Bihar government handed an initial ex-gratia cheque of ₹21 lakh to Shreya Rai, who was recognized in official records as his legally wedded wife after a private court marriage.

Shubham’s parents stated they were aware of their son’s relationship with Shreya, but claimed they were completely unaware the couple had legally married.

The officer’s father expressed deep pain, alleging that the family was not informed about the ₹21 lakh payout process. Furthermore, he claimed that Shreya departed for her parental home before the completion of the traditional post-death Shraddh rituals.
