‘Didn’t bring sarees for me’: Thane woman strangles husband to death after hitting him with pressure cooker lid

A domestic dispute over a saree ended in a brutal murder in Badlapur East, where a 30-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly killing her husband and attempting to pass off his death as a heart attack.

According to the investigation, an argument erupted after Hariram (35) allegedly failed to bring sarees for his wife Sunita (30). The verbal altercation soon turned violent.

During the quarrel, the couple’s seven-year-old son reportedly ran to the room owner’s house seeking help to stop the fight.

However, before anyone could intervene, Sunita allegedly assaulted her husband with the lid of a pressure cooker and then strangled him to death.

To conceal the crime, she allegedly told the room owner that Hariram had suffered a heart attack after the argument. Based on her statement, police initially registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR).

The post-mortem examination raised suspicion after doctors found injuries inconsistent with a natural death.

The police registered an FIR for murder and, during questioning, the accused confessed to killing her husband.

Police have booked Sunita under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and further investigation is underway.
