Meerut blue drum murder case: Death penalty for Muskaan Rastogi & Sahil Shukla

In a major development in the Meerut ‘Blue Drum Murder Case’, Muskan Rastogi and her lover, Sahil Shukla, have been sentenced to death for the murder of her husband, Saurabh Rajput, a former Merchant Navy officer.

What has drawn further attention is the stand taken by Muskan’s own parents. According to reports, they submitted a written statement before the court saying they would not oppose the death penalty if it was awarded to their daughter. They also reportedly described Saurabh as a good person.

The court’s decision to award the death penalty to both convicts marks a significant development in the case. However, the legal process may continue if they challenge the verdict before a higher court.

The case dates back to March 2025, when Saurabh was murdered in Meerut. According to the prosecution, his body was dismembered and concealed inside a blue drum filled with cement in an attempt to hide the crime. The case sparked widespread outrage across the country.

Investigators presented circumstantial, forensic and other evidence during the trial, which involved 126 hearings and statements from 22 witnesses.
