A 34-year-old woman was taken into custody after she drowned her nine-month-old daughter in Bairamalguda Lake on Sunday evening (August 2).

According to the police, the accused, Lokasani Rajeshwari, a homemaker, drowned her daughter, Anuradha, at around 6.30 p.m.

Evening walkers spotted the woman in the water with the infant and immediately alerted emergency services (Dial 100).

The infant d*ed at the scene.




Police said Rajeshwari was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. She has been taken into custody, and a case has been registered.

The motive behind the incident is yet to be ascertained, and further investigation is underway.
