The woman arrested in Pune for posing as a Police Sub-Inspector has been identified as 25-year-old Samina Asif Inamdar alias Samina Ayub Pathan.
According to police, she worked at a private company and had long aspired to join the police force but was unable to do so.
Investigators say Samina allegedly wore a PSI uniform complete with rank stars and visited a private clinic in Pune’s Camp area to secure a doctor’s appointment more quickly. She attempted to use the uniform to influence clinic staff and gain priority access.
Her actions raised suspicion when PSI Mahesh Shinde spotted her during a patrol. When questioned about her posting and asked to produce an official ID card, she reportedly failed to provide satisfactory answers, leading to her detention and arrest.
Police have registered a case and are now investigating whether she used the fake identity on any previous occasions.
