On Wednesday, the special court for Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act cases imposed a fine of 20,000 on a woman for falsely accusing her husband of raping her minor sister in 2019.
While hearing the case on Saturday, the court of special judge (Pocso Act) Mahendra Srivastava found the rape allegation to be false on the basis of evidence during the trial.
In her complaint to the Pollachi all-woman police, a court source said, the woman from Nalluthukuli village near Pollachi accused her husband of raping her 16-year-old sister on several occasions. “The girl was living with them after the demise of her parents.” Police registered a case against the woman’s husband under sections 5(l), (n) and 6 of the Pocso Act and Section 506(i) of the Indian Penal Code, and arrested him.
Interestingly, during the trial, the minor girl told the court that her brother-in-law hadn’t raped her.
The court acquitted the man on Wednesday and fined his wife.
