A magistrate’s court in Mumbai granted bail to choreographer Ganesh Acharya in a sexual harassment case on Thursday.

In February 2020, a case was filed against the choreographer at the suburban Amboli police station for allegedly assaulting an assistant choreographer.

The complainant claimed that Ganesh Acharya forced her to watch pornographic videos whenever she visited his office in 2009-10, and that he had done the same thing to other women as well.

The complainant claims that Acharya and two others assaulted her on January 26, 2020, at an Indian Film and Television Choreographers Association function in Andheri. She also included complaints about previous instances of sexual harassment.

Ganesh was charged with sexual harassment and voyeurism by Mumbai Police in April of this year.

Based on the complaint, the police filed an IPC case against Ganesh Acharya under sections 354-A (sexual harassment), 354-C (watching or capturing the image of a woman engaging in a private act), 354-D (stalking), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 509 (word, gesture, or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman).
All of the allegations have been denied by the choreographer.

However, Ganesh Acharya was never arrested in connection with the case. He was granted bail after appearing in magistrate court on Thursday.
