A shocking incident was reported in Hyderabad, Telangana, where a mother allegedly threw her six-year-old daughter into Hussain Sagar Lake on October 8, 2026.

According to police, the incident occurred at Upper Tank Bund in Hyderabad when a woman from Bowenpally, who has two daughters aged eight and six, allegedly pushed her younger daughter into the lake and fled.




According to reports, the woman was reportedly struggling with financial difficulties and the cost of treating her daughter’s illness.

Fortunately, three men, auto-rickshaw driver Fakhruddin, private employee K. Balakrishna, and businessman Mohammed Afsar — came to the child’s rescue. After hearing the girl’s cries for help, Balakrishna alerted others, while Fakhruddin jumped into the lake and, with Afsar’s assistance, brought the child to safety.

The girl was taken to Gandhi Hospital for treatment, and her condition was reported to be stable.




Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar later felicitated the three men and rewarded them for their courage and quick thinking.

Police registered an attempted-murder case against the mother, and the investigation is underway.
