48-year-old woman kills husband over property dispute: Kerala

A shocking murder case has emerged from Kollam, Kerala, where a woman identified as Lekha Mary was arrested for allegedly murdering her 53-year-old husband, Raju, following a property dispute.

According to media reports, the couple had reportedly been involved in frequent arguments over property ownership. Police suspect that the dispute intensified after Raju acquired family property, with Lekha allegedly insisting that it be transferred entirely into her name.

The incident reportedly took place on October 2, 2026, at their residence in Cherumoodu, Vellimon. According to police, Lekha allegedly strangled Raju with a belt during an argument. She then reportedly informed his family that he had collapsed at home.

Initially, Raju was believed to have died after collapsing. However, the post-mortem examination reportedly revealed signs of strangulation, prompting police to investigate the death as a suspected murder.

During questioning, Lekha allegedly confessed to the crime, according to police. She was subsequently arrested, and further investigation was underway to determine whether anyone else was involved.

The case has raised serious concerns about how a property dispute within a marriage allegedly escalated into a fatal crime.
