During the preliminary enquiry, the police found that Mr. Pawan Sharma and his mother were travelling towards Yamuna Vihar on Oct 8 and were seated on seats designated for senior citizens.
The two accused – Sanjay Pratap Singh, 65, and his son, Sidharth Singh, 36, boarded the train at 4 pm Mandi House Metro station, following which a dispute broke out over the seats.

Pawan objected to the manner in which the men were speaking and said they would vacate the seats.
As Pawan and his mother began getting up, he allegedly made a remark to the elderly man, following which the latter grabbed him by the collar and slapped him.
When Pawan objected to the assault, the younger man accompanying the elderly accused allegedly caught him by the neck and repeatedly punched him in the chest.
Durga Sharma alleged that when she tried to intervene, the elderly man held her hands and prevented her from stopping the assault.
The situation took a dramatic turn when the train reached Supreme Court Metro station. Mr. Sharma reportedly became unconscious on the station’s platform and was taken to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital along with his mother.
He was declared brought dead at the hospital.
Now the brother of Pawan Sharma has demanded death penalty for the accused.
