Police arrested the victim’s wife, Pushpa Maurya, 30, and her paramour, Neeraj Maurya, 30, for the September 13-14 murder of Ram Babu Maurya.

According to police, Pushpa and Neeraj were allegedly in a relationship, which had caused disputes between Pushpa and her husband. As part of the alleged plan, Ram Babu’s motorcycle was first made to disappear, after which Neeraj helped recover it to regain his trust.




Pushpa then travelled by bus to Balaji, telling her husband she was going for darshan. While she was away, Neeraj allegedly called Ram Babu to Krishnanagar on the pretext of a party. After consuming alcohol, Neeraj allegedly attacked Ram Babu’s neck with a domestic knife and killed him before fleeing the spot.

Police said Pushpa later returned and stayed around the victim’s family to avoid suspicion. The case was registered after Ram Babu’s brother, Shyam Babu Maurya, filed a complaint on September 14.

Investigators examined around 180–200 CCTV recordings, along with technical evidence, manual investigation and local intelligence, before identifying the two suspects.
