A 41-year-old woman was booked on Monday for dumping her child in a toilet dustbin after delivering the baby in a five-star hotel in Mumbai.

The incident came to light at 10.30 am, when a housekeeping staff member went to the toilet to clean it and heard the child crying. The hotel staff then informed the police and a case was registered at the N M Joshi Marg police station against the woman who was traced with the help of CCTV footage.

The child was a baby boy and was admitted to the NICU of Nair hospital. The baby is said to be in a stable condition.

The accused is a resident of Goregaon (East).
In a preliminary inquiry the woman said that she came to the hotel for some work, but due to sudden labour, she delivered the child in the toilet. She had a personal dispute with her husband and hence she abandoned the child there .
