This is a case of 2010 (Chennai). An aspiring engineering student was accused of rape by a woman and her family in 2010 after the two families, who were supposed to get their kids married to each other, had a fall-out due to a dispute regarding the property.

The family of the woman claimed that the guy had impregnated their daughter and refused to marry her, based on which he was produced in the court and kept in custody for 95 days until he could get bail.

By that time in February 2010, the woman had already delivered the baby and a DNA test proved that he wasn’t to blame. However, the case went for trial and it was only in 2016 when a Mahila court in Chennai acquitted the man in 2016.

The man, who was innocent, to begin with, spent 7 years in jail and was offered compensation of Rs 15 lakhs from the court.
