A Bengaluru resident who was getting impatient as his food delivery order was getting delayed was surprised when he opened the door to find a Swiggy delivery guy with a disability holding his food.

Rohit Kumar Singh took to LinkedIn to share the story of Swiggy delivery executive Krishnappa Rathod.

Rohit said that his food was estimated to be delivered in around 30 minutes but when it did not arrive, he decided to call the delivery guy. The delivery guy replied politely saying, “I will be there in some time, sir.”

When the food didn’t arrive even after a few more minutes, he got impatient and called up the delivery agent again.

“He again responded with a very comforting tone & telling me just 5 minutes more. In around next 5-10 minutes, the bell rang and the impatient me went quickly to open the door & maybe express my disappointment with the delay in the delivery,” he wrote.

When Rohit opened the door, he found a man smiling at him “graciously” with the order in his hand.

“Mid 40’s, grey hair, trying to balance himself with crutches & smiling at me, I was numb for a second & feeling stupid to get impatient sitting on my comfortable bed. In my head, I was wondering what all struggle he had to go through to get this order to me. I immediately apologized to him and tried to have a conversation”, said Rohit.

Krishnappa told him that he lost his job at a cafe during the pandemic and had to take up the work of food delivery. He could not bring his children to Bangalore to get better education facilities for them.

After talking for about two to three minutes, Krishnappa told Rohit, “Sir I am getting late for my next delivery,” and he left.

Sometimes, all you need in life is a little bit of courage.
