On Thursday evening, the police arrested a woman in an abetment to suicide case after her alleged boyfriend died by suicide after she slapped him in Ludhiana. The accused woman was identified as Rajwinder Kaur of Ranwan village.

The deceased was identified as Gurdeep Singh (30). Nachhatar Singh, the father of Gurdeep, told the cops that his son, who was working in Dubai, had returned home about two-and-a-half-years. He added that when Gurdeep Singh was abroad, he used to send money to Rajwinder Kaur, who lived in the village, as they were in a relationship.
He also told the police officials that his son had given her about Rs 1.20 lakh to Rajwinder and when he would ask her to return the money, she would fight with him. He then added that on September 28, at around 8 am, his son went to Rajwinder Kaur’s house to ask for money and after some time, she came to their house.

She then grabbed his son by neck and slapped him on his face and abused him saying that she doesn’t owe him any money. He added that after the incident, his son kept crying and said that he has been insulted a lot and he will die.

In the evening, his son drank some poisonous substance. Seeing his condition deteriorating, his father admitted him at Ludhiana CMC Hospital where he died.
On being informed, cops from Machhiwara police station reached the spot and started probe into the matter.
Police then sent the body for post-mortem examination.
