According to police, Vijay Singh, resident of Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, is working with an IT company in Anantapur, was in love with Bhavana Reddy of Proddatur, for the last one-and-a-half years.
Bhavana Reddy’s father Venkateswara Reddy reportedly sought one and a half years to organise their wedding. Meanwhile, the relationship between Vijay Singh and Bhavana Reddy soured and they broke up a few weeks ago. On June 16 2023, Pulla Reddy, a relative of Bhavana, invited Vijay to a party.
When Vijay arrived at Devanahalli, Pulla Reddy and a few persons took him to a resort near Nandi Hills. Pulla Reddy and his accomplices attacked him after spraying pepper spray on his face there. They allegedly hit him with a belt and a rope causing injuries on his back and thigh. Later, they made a video call to Bhavana Reddy to show the condition of Vijay Singh.
The very next day, Bhavana Reddy arrived at the spot where Pulla Reddy captivated Vijay and she verbally abused Vijay Singh and demanded Rs 30 lakh from him. Bhavana also insisted that Vijay should never reveal their relationship to anyone.
When Vijay said he had only Rs 8 lakh with him, she asked him to avail financial assistance through a loan app on his mobile phone. When the loan was sanctioned and his account had about Rs 21 lakh, Bhavana Reddy forced him to transfer Rs 15 lakh to her relative Nageswara Reddy and Rs 5 lakh to Sudhir, an accomplice of Pulla Reddy.
Another Rs 50,000 each was transferred to two accomplices of Pulla Reddy. They later snatched Vijay Singh’s gold chain, laptop and iPhone before leaving the spot. Bhavana Reddy drove Vijay Singh in a car and dumped him near Vidyaranyapura in Bengaluru.
Based on Vijay’s complaint filed on June 19, police arrested Bhavana Reddy and Pulla Reddy.
