In this strange case of a woman named Bharathy Singaravel, a journalist with The News Minute, she was denied a house because of a fellow tenant as he said he wasn’t comfortable staying next to a single lady.
She then shared her ordeal in Twitter while trying to find a house in Chennai. Take a look at what she wrote:

“So I nearly zeroed in on place today. Met land lord, everything. In an independent house. Until some advocate f*** renting on the same floor fought with landlord saying he’s a bachelor, how can you let the next house to a single woman. Bring a family,” Bharathy wrote.

“He’s an Advocate, so landlord is scared and men listen to men. So landlord backtracks and says will only rent to a family. This city’s obsession with renting to only families, where single women renters rate the lowest. And the damn search starts all over again.
It’s cool for a bachelor to have rented out a place for himself, but god forbid a woman does the same thing. Near him. The sheer audacity to strong arm the landlord, the landlord’s god-like fear of some advocate f***. Men are exhausting,” she posted.

“Anyway, still looking for a house. Pliss DM leads ppl. 12-13 K, max 15K. No restrictions and pliss if only they’re not looking for family renters. I’m a single renter and fully intend to stay that way. Flat share leads also welcome,” she added further.

This incident was posted by her on May 22, 2020 and ever since her tweets has been shared thousands of times.
