Based on a complaint by a Mumbai-based NGO named Shyam Mangaram Foundation, the Mumbai Police registered an FIR against actor Ranveer Singh on Tuesday i.e. July 26 for sharing photographs from an apparently nude photoshoot that he did with ‘Paper’ magazine.

The FIR was filed upon a complaint lodged at the Chembur police station by a person named Lalit Tekchandani, under sections 292 (sale of obscene books), 293 (sale of obscene objects to young people), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code and provisions of the Information Technology Act.

The NGO claims that the actor has hurt the sentiments of women and insulted their modesty through his photographs. The complaint also stated that India has a good culture but due to such pictures, everyone’s sentiments are hurt.

But the biggest irony is that till date several Indian actresses have also posed nude for various shoots like Esha Gupta, Kalki Koechlin, Sherlyn Chopra, Sunny Leone, Neha Dhupia, Flora Saini, Frieda Pinto to name a few but surprisingly no complaints or FIR has been registered against them.

But a male doing a nude photoshoot is hurting women’s sentiments, destroying Indian Culture and effecting the children’s morale. When it’s about females, in the name of women empowerment anything and everything is allowed but when it’s a male, anything and everything is offensive and hurting women’s sentiments.
